For the Cake:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (190g)
  • 1/2 cup carob powder (60g)
  • 1 cup sugar (200g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water (240 ml)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil (80 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. Prepare the Cake Batter: In a large bowl, sift together flour, carob powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix water, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and vinegar or lemon juice. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  3. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with your favorite toppings.
