For the Puri:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (250g)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (50g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup water (60 ml), approximately
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, sugar, salt, and cardamom powder. Gradually add water and knead to form a stiff dough. Cover and let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Divide Dough: Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape them into balls.
  3. Roll Out Puris: Roll out each dough ball into a small circle, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  4. Fry Puris: Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully slide a rolled-out puri into the oil. Fry until it puffs up and turns golden brown on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
