Ingredients

Scale

For the Chapati:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup water (177 ml), approximately
  • Ghee, for brushing

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a soft, pliable dough. Cover and let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Divide Dough: Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and shape them into balls.
  3. Roll Out Chapatis: Roll out each dough ball into a thin, round chapati, about 6-7 inches in diameter.
  4. Cook Chapatis: Heat a tawa or flat griddle over medium heat. Place a rolled-out chapati on the hot tawa. Cook until brown spots appear on both sides, flipping as needed.
  5. Brush with Ghee: As soon as each chapati is cooked, brush it with ghee on both sides.
  6. Serve Hot: Serve the ghee chapatis hot with your favorite side dish.

Notes

  • Variation: Add a pinch of ajwain (carom seeds) to the dough for extra flavor.
  • Storage: Store any leftover chapatis in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. Reheat before serving.
