Hare Krishna Creamy Jalapeno Sauce

Hare Krishna Creamy Jalapeno Sauce presented in a traditional bowl, garnished with fresh herbs.

Hare Krishna Creamy Jalapeno Sauce is a delightful and flavorful addition to your meals, inspired by the principles of bhakti yoga. This rich sauce combines wholesome ingredients, creating a harmonious blend that enhances any dish. In the tradition of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, cooking and offering food to Krishna is an act of love and devotion, known as bhakti. Each dish is prepared with care, mindfulness, and a pure heart, making it not just a meal but a spiritual offering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup vegan mayonnaise (see my vegan mayo recipe)
  • 1.5 cups sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons pickled jalapeno brine (from a jar of pickled jalapenos not containing onion or garlic)
  • 2 tablespoons pickled jalapenos (no onion, no garlic, e.g., Mezzetta brand)
  • 2 teaspoons Kashmiri red chili powder (or paprika)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons hing (asafetida)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place all the ingredients into a blender or mixing bowl.
  2. Blend Until Smooth: Blend or whisk until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  3. Adjust Seasoning: Adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt or spices to suit your preference. You’ll have to eyeball this as Hare Krishna’s do not smell or taste the food before serving to Krishna.
  4. Serve: Offer to Krishna, transfer to a serving bowl or bottle, share, and enjoy.

Notes

  • Enhancing Flavor: For an extra burst of flavor, add a handful of fresh cilantro or mint before blending.
  • Storage Tip: Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep well for up to a week.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of red chili powder to control the heat level of the sauce.
  • Serving Tip: This sauce can also be used as a dip for fresh vegetables or as a topping for nachos and all types of veggie burgers.
