Vegetable Fried Rice is a flavorful and satisfying Chinese-inspired dish prepared according to the principles of bhakti yoga. Fresh vegetables, aromatic basmati rice, and simple seasonings combine to create a wholesome meal suitable for offering to Krishna. Prepared with devotion and mindfulness, this dish nourishes both body and soul.

  • 3 cups cooked basmati rice, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

Instructions

Prepare the Rice

Cook basmati rice and allow it to cool completely. Day-old rice works best.

Cook the Vegetables

Heat ghee or sesame oil in a large wok or skillet.

Add ginger and sauté briefly until fragrant.

Add carrots, peas, bell peppers, and cabbage.

Cook for 5–7 minutes while maintaining some crunch.

Stir Fry

Add the cooled rice and gently mix.

Pour in soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.

Continue stirring until evenly coated and heated through.

Finish and Serve

Remove from heat.

Garnish with chopped cilantro.

Offer to Krishna and serve warm.

Notes

Rice Tip: Day-old rice produces the best texture and prevents clumping.

Vegetable Variation: Corn, green beans, and broccoli may be substituted.

Oil Choice: Sesame oil provides a more authentic Chinese-inspired flavor.
