Ingredients
Scale
4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
1/2 cup grated coconut
1/4 cup roasted peanuts, coarsely ground
1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
Rock salt (sendha namak) to taste
1 tablespoon ghee
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Prepare Filling: In a bowl, mix grated coconut, ground peanuts, green chili, cumin seeds, and rock salt.
Form Pattice: Take a portion of mashed potato, flatten it, and place some filling in the center. Fold the edges over to seal and shape into a patty.
Cook Pattice: Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown on both sides.
Serve: Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
Notes
Shaping the Pattice: If the mashed potatoes are too sticky, you can add a little bit of rajgira flour to help shape the patties.
Flavor Variations: You can adjust the spice level by adding or omitting the green chili according to your preference.
Serving Suggestion: These patties pair well with a simple yogurt dip or Ekadashi-friendly chutney.
Frying Tip: Ensure the ghee is hot enough before frying to achieve a crisp exterior on the patties.
