Hare Krishna Mango Lassi

Hare Krishna Mango Lassi Recipe

Hare Krishna Mango Lassi is a delightful and flavorful drink, inspired by the principles of bhakti yoga. This rich lassi combines wholesome ingredients, creating a harmonious blend that enhances any meal. In the tradition of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, preparing and offering beverages to Krishna is an act of love and devotion, known as bhakti. Each drink is prepared with care, mindfulness, and a pure heart, making it not just a tasty lassi but a spiritual offering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 32 oz container of plain yogurt
  • 1/2 30 oz can of kesar mango pulp (preferably organic)
  • 15 oz water
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons cardamom powder

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place the sugar, plain yogurt, mango pulp, water, and cardamom powder into a blender.
  2. Blend Until Smooth: Blend until the lassi is smooth and creamy.
  3. Serve: Pour into glasses, garnish with a sprinkle of cardamom powder, offer to Krishna, share and enjoy.

Notes

  • Mango Pulp: Using kesar mango pulp adds a rich and authentic flavor to the lassi. If you cannot find kesar mango pulp, you can use any other variety of mango pulp.
  • Fresh Mangoes: If fresh mangoes are in season, you can use them in place of canned mango pulp. Blend the mangoes with a little water to make a smooth puree.
  • Vegan Option: Replace the plain yogurt with a plant-based yogurt for a vegan version of this lassi.
  • Flavor Enhancements: Add a few saffron strands or a pinch of nutmeg for an extra layer of flavor.
  • Chilled Lassi: For a chilled version, refrigerate the lassi for an hour before serving or add ice cubes while blending.
