Hare Krishna Sabudana Vada are delightful and flavorful fritters, inspired by the principles of bhakti yoga. These vadas combine simple, wholesome ingredients to create a delicious addition to your meals. In the tradition of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, preparing and offering food to Krishna is an act of love and devotion, known as bhakti. Each dish is prepared with care, mindfulness, and a pure heart, making it not just a meal but a spiritual offering.

  • 1 cup sabudana (tapioca pearls)
  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts, coarsely ground
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Prepare Batter:

  1. Soak Sabudana:
    • Soak sabudana in water for at least 4-6 hours or overnight. Drain well.
  2. Mix Ingredients:
    • In a bowl, combine soaked sabudana, mashed potatoes, ground peanuts, green chilies, cumin seeds, and salt. Mix well to form a dough.

Shape Vadas:

  1. Form Vadas:
    • Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a round ball. Flatten slightly to form a patty.

Fry Vadas:

  1. Heat Oil:
    • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Fry Vadas:
    • Carefully slide the shaped vadas into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  3. Drain:
    • Remove vadas from oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Notes

  • Variation: Add finely chopped coriander leaves for extra flavor.
  • Storage: Store any leftover vadas in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
